This week the Southeast Missourian asked, "What do you think of the possible freeze on teachers' salaries for the 1998-99 school year?"
Barbara Freed, Cape Girardeau
"I don't think you can just blanket freeze everybody. I think each case has to be looked at individually. They should look at their's too (administration salaries).
Janna Crosnoe, Cape Girardeau
"Since my husband is a teacher I feel that it affects teachers more than the administrators realize and what they're going to do is get rid of all the good teachers. They'll move to other school districts and when they build the new school they won't have any worthwhile teachers working there. They'll have a pretty school but the learning there won't be to the degree it could be."
Sharon Sibley, Cape Girardeau
"I'm hoping it doesn't come to pass. I hope it's not necessary for them to do it."
Jo Anne Dickerson, Cape Girardeau
"I hate to see teachers' salaries hurt. I understand if the money isn't there then there is no way that they can get salaries. I would like to see them make cuts in other areas before they reduce teachers' salaries."
Brian Alworth, Cape Girardeau
"I suppose teachers' salaries must be looked at as much as any other expenditure that the school board has to look at, but I don't think that the teachers should be asked to sacrifice anything more than the administration."
