OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- An Olive Branch man died early Friday in a fire that damaged his mobile home on the Miller City blacktop road near here.

Rick Masterson, 32, died from smoke inhalation, said Alexander County Coroner David Barkett, who pronounced Masterson dead at the scene at 4:34 a.m.

Masterson, a member of the Olive Branch Fire Department, was found in the bedroom of the mobile home by firefighters Greg Masterson, a brother, and Dan Bigham.

The call for the fire came in at 3:30 a.m. Quick response by the fire department prevented a total loss to the mobile home.

The Illinois State Fire Marshal's office, sheriff's department and coroner's office are investigating the fire.

Bill Bowers, chief deputy of the Alexander County Sheriff's Department, said there was no suspicion of foul play, but all fatal fires are investigated the fire marshal's office.
