Melvin Holden
ANNA, Ill. -- Melvin Holden, 85, of Anna died Thursday, July 24, 1997, at Union County Hospital.
He was born Aug. 16, 1911, in Eckelson, N.D., son of Anton and Lena Evanson Holden. He and Mary Jane Herren were married June 21, 1951, in Louisville, Ky. She died June 21, 1997.
Holden was a retired farmer and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Gospel Assembly Church.
Survivors include four sons, Joel Holden of Floyds Knobs, Ind., Richard Holden of Cuba, Ill., Gaylen and Gordon Holden of Anna; a brother, Edwin Holden of Valley City, N.D.; a sister, Luella Campbell of Valley City; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna after 6 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gospel Assembly Church, with the Rev. Dennis Fitzsimmons officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery near Dongola.
