Myrtle Irene Steward
Myrtle Irene Steward, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, July 23, 1997, at the Chateau Girardeau Health Center.
She was born Jan. 6, 1912, in Griffithville, Ark., the daughter of Elisha and Anna Belle Bratcher Strickland. She and Walter L. Steward were married Aug. 29, 1931. He preceded her in death.
Steward was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in New Madrid.
Survivors include two daughters, Vanita Rogers of Denver, Colo., and Juanita Turner of Somerset, Ky.; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son and five brothers.
There is no visitation.
Funeral service will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Bray officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
