ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Barack Obama is expected to be in St. Louis on Monday for the first time as the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.
The senator from Illinois will attend a private fundraiser at the Renaissance Grand Hotel Monday night after spending the earlier part of the day campaigning in North Carolina.
The visit is among several Obama and Republican hopeful John McCain will make to Missouri between now and the election. Missouri is one of the swing states that could go either way. Missouri voters have been on the winning side of every election except one since the turn of the 20th century.
Obama last week tallied enough delegates to essentially clinch the nomination. Challenger Hillary Rodham Clinton threw her support behind Obama in a speech on Saturday.
