NURSING HOME RESIDENT EARNS GOLDEN POET AWARD

A local nursing home resident has earned the Golden Poet Award for her poem, "My Mother."

Eldora Brown, a resident at Cape LaCroix Nursing Center, has won the Golden Poet award four years in a row.

She is invited to New York City to present her poem at the Golden Poets round-robin presentation on Sept. 2. She will also appear on the television show "Poetryland The Wonderful World of Poetry."

Brown says she writes a poem every day and especially enjoyed writing the poem about her mother.
