TAMMS, Ill. -- Authorities are investigating a Tuesday attack at an assisted-living facility in which two people were stabbed.
Illinois State Police were contacted Tuesday evening about a man wielding a knife at the H and S Shelter Care, according to a news release.
Troopers responding found a male resident of the facility armed with a large knife. Other residents, including the two who had been stabbed, still were in the building with him, the release said.
Two troopers and a Tamms police officer entered the building and apprehended the suspect, identified as Jule K. Woods, 41, without further incident, the release said.
The two victims were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Woods is being held at the Tri-County Detention Center in Ullin, Illinois, pending his first court appearance, the release said.
The investigation is ongoing.
