Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau opened its doors to current and potential students and their parents Monday in an annual effort to attract enrollment.

Brother David Anthony Migliorino, principal, said 300-400 families attended the event last year. He believes it is important to let children, particularly those in fifth through eighth grades, see the high school and ask questions of faculty and others.

"I'm the principal, so you expect me to say wonderful things," Migliorino said. "But if you see a parent out here and you know them, you can get the scoop. Here you can meet kids, tour the school, get individual attention and talk about issues such as learning disabilities and college entrance scores."

Parents who missed Monday's event can call the school to set up a tour. Notre Dame has 420 students in grades 9-12.
