Noted nutritionist and author Barbara M. Dixon will be in Cape Girardeau Sunday to sign her new book, "Good Health for African-American Kids."

The book signing will be conducted at Barnes & Noble, 3035 William, from 1-3 p.m. Sunday.

Dixon became dedicated to improving African-American health after both her parents and grandparents died at early ages from either stroke, heart disease or cancer. She believes African-Americans have been shortchanged in receiving urgently needed health information to help prevent and control disease.

Dixon's booklet for the McDonald's Corporation, "Convenient Eating Can Be Healthy Eating," is distributed in McDonald's restaurants and in professional meetings nationwide.

She currently works as the nutrition reporter for WAFB-TV, the CBS affiliate in Baton Rouge, La.

Dixon also is author of "Good Health for African-Americans."
