NEW MADRID, Mo. -- Management at Noranda and the United Steelworkers of America have agreed to a contract that will govern labor relations at the New Madrid plant for five more years.
The agreement was reached Friday, according to a Noranda news release, one week after the previous contract was extended to allow more time for talks.
"This agreement is the product of many weeks of hard work by both the Noranda and USW negotiating teams," Noranda Aluminum plant manager Frank Davis said in the release. "It achieves Noranda's goal of rewarding employees for their hard work, making the plant a safer place, while accomplishing changes that are needed for Noranda to be sustainable for the future."
The contract covers about 780 employees at the New Madrid plant.
