Time remains to send in your nominations for the Southeast Missourian Spirit of America Award.

Each year the Southeast Missourian recognizes one individual at the City of Cape Girardeau's Great American Fourth of July celebration.

Previous recipients include: John "Doc" Yallaly, Dr. Dan Cotner, Melvin Gateley, Neal Edwards, James Harnes Sr., Jane Randol Jackson, Harry Rediger, Rob Callahan, David Hitt, Kent Zickfield, Kenneth Bender and Mary Kasten.

Organizations and individuals may nominate deserving candidates. If the winner is nominated by an organization, the nominating organization will receive the $1,000 cash prize. If nominated by an individual, the recipient will choose a charity as the beneficiary.

Send in your nomination online at www.semissourian.com/forms/spirit, or check for forms that regularly appear in the Southeast Missourian. The nomination deadline is June 11.
