The Milan, Tenn. No-Till Research Station provides the latest and best data on no-till and other conservation tillage systems.

There are two ways you can get this information says John F. Bradley, superintendent of the Milan Research Station. A person can either go to a field day event or attend the crop production seminars at New Trends in Agriculture.

Bradley will provide summaries of the latest research studies with emphasis on economics and soil effects during a 9 a.m. seminar at the New Trends program Thursday.

The two-day event starts at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Show Me Center on Southeast Missouri State University campus.

Comparisons of no-till, ridge-till, minimum-till and other conservation systems with conventional cropping practices will keynote Bradley's seminar. Bradley has supervised and implemented systems comparing weed control, compaction, soybean cyst nematodes, plant diseases, rotations, soil loss and their interactive effects on profit or loss.

Bradley's experiences with these various tillage systems will bring new insight on the long-term effects of conservation tillage on crop yield, weed populations, soil insect and nematode numbers and soil till over a period of years.

Many farmers have some experience with different conservation tillage systems, others are experimenting in efforts to save soil and be in compliance on our erodible soils and to save time and energy costs.

Bradley's seminar is title, "Economics and Effects of Conservation Tillage Systems."
