A water rescue unit with the Cape Girardeau Fire Department retrieved an overturned boat from the Mississippi River at Cape Girardeau on Wednesday with the help of a tugboat from Missouri Dry Docks. The approximately 12-foot bass fishing boat appeared to have been floating in the river for months and was without a motor. No one could have been using the boat recently, said Brad Dillow, Cape Girardeau battalion chief. The department's investigation of the incident ceased shortly after bringing the boat to the dry docks, where Dillow said they found no numbers or registration stickers on the vessel.
