None were injured in an early-morning structure fire Sunday on Chateau Drive in Cape Girardeau.

Firefighters were dispatched just before 7 a.m. to a call of a vehicle fire in a garage. Upon arrival, they were met with an intense fire coming from the garage area.

Firefighters were able to ventilate the structure and bring the blaze under control relatively quickly, but not before the fire had caused extensive damage to the garage.

The remaining parts of the residence also received heavy smoke damage.

No residents or firefighters were injured.

Jackson and Scott City crews assisted in extinguishing the fire.

Firefighters were unable to determine the direct cause of the fire, and were also unable to estimate the losses in dollars, but the damage was "extensive," according to a report from the fire department.
