POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Three Rivers College will get nearly $2 million in improvements and renovations through an initiative proposed by Gov. Jay Nixon and passed with bipartisan support in the General Assembly this year.
"Investing in our colleges and universities allows these institutions to continue offering a great education while avoiding the skyrocketing tuition hikes seen in other states," Nixon said during a Poplar Bluff visit Friday. "Our $200 million Building Affordability initiative is a significant investment in higher education and a lasting investment in our future workforce."
For Three Rivers, the initiative will provide $1,900,868 to make upgrades to electrical, HVAC and lighting systems in the Westover Classroom Building, Crisp Technology Center, Tinnin Center, Education Annex Building and the Academic Resource Commons.
Repairs and improvements also will be made to building exteriors, roofs, parking lots, sidewalks and lighting throughout campus.
Building Affordability is a component of Build Missouri, a capital-improvements initiative that will fund nearly 500 projects in the state through bond proceeds and other sources.
