The Miss Homecomers queen contest will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday on stage in front of the Jackson courthouse. Contestants, in grades 11 and 12, attend local schools. There are no entry fees. Winners will receive prizes. Entertainment prior to the contest will be provided by Dance Extensions Dance Studio.
Contestants include:
Mykah Paige Bryan, daughter of Bethley Carden of Sikeston, is a junior at Sikeston High School. Bryan participates in SADD, RED Peppers, cheerleading, Milky Way Club, FBLA and is an honor roll student.
Paige Englehart, daughter of Brent Englehart and Michele Anderson of Jackson, is a senior at Jackson High School. Englehart participates in girls choir, Pep Club, Team Spirit and is an honor roll student.
Corrie Gerecke, daughter of Bonnie and Dale Gerecke of Cape Girardeau, is a junior at Notre Dame High School. Gerecke participates in varsity cheerleading, spirit club, treble choir and is a competition cheerleader and honor roll student.
Casey Marie Hinkebein, daughter of Janell and Ennis William Hinkebein II of Jackson, is a junior at Jackson High School. Hinkebein participates in cheerleading, Spanish club and the symphonic band as a trumpet player. She is an A honor roll student.
Sarah Elizabeth Roberts, daughter of Chuck and Judy Roberts of Jackson, is a junior at Jackson High School. Roberts participates in Jackson Marching Band and Symphonic Band as a trumpet player, girls choir and chamber choir, and is an honor roll student.
Leslie Carol Shain, daughter of Deborah and Marshall Shain of Jackson, is a senior at Jackson High School. Shain has served as Drama Club president, editor of the Squawler, Student Council representative and is speech team member.
Ashley Skinner, daughter of Mark and Martha Skinner of Jackson, is a senior at Jackson High School. Skinner is the captain of Jackson High School Spirit Dancers, and participates in the National Honor Society, Pep Club, FBLA, Drama Club, Hi-Step and girls choir. She was selected as an All Star by the Universal Dance Association, attended the Missouri Fine Arts Academy and received the best senior lyrical award at dance camp recently.
Kara Thompson, daughter of Norman and Linda Thompson of Jackson, is a senior at Jackson High School. Thompson participates in chamber choir, student council for five years, Pep Club, Missouri Association of Student Council camp, National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C., sportsmanship summit, Relay for Life and Special Olympics.
Vanessa Rae Underwood, daughter of Mary and Gary Underwood of Burfordville, is a junior at Jackson High School. Underwood participates in speech and debate, drama, FBLA, National Honor Roll Society, National Society of High School Scholars, Miss Teen SEMO Fair and Miss Cape Girardeau Fabulous Faces.
