The grand prize winner in a new eight-week trivia contest will get a $200 shopping spree and a 52-week subscription to the Southeast Missourian.
The contest begins this weekend.
Trivia questions appear in the Saturday Southeast Missourian and the free distribution Plus edition each week. Readers find the answers in each Sunday's USA Weekend magazine.
Completed trivia contest forms may be dropped off at Southeast Missourian offices in Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Marble Hill and Chaffee. Forms may also be dropped off at newspaper payment boxes at Schnucks in Cape Girardeau and Scott City Bestway. Participants can also mail their entries.
Each Friday at noon, a weekly winner will be selected. Weekly winners receive their choice of a hardcover book and a four-week subscription to the Missourian.
All participants, including weekly winners, are eligible for the April 3 grand prize drawing.
That winner receives a $200 shopping spree with the April 3 Southeast Missourian advertiser of his choice and a year's subscription to the Missourian.
"USA Weekend has been a wonderful addition to our Sunday news package," said Pat Zellmer, director of advertising.
Mark Kneer, director of circulation-marketing, said USA Weekend encourages reader participation in several different ways, including this contest.
In addition to the trivia questions, participants are asked to complete a few questions related to the newspaper's content.
"We will be looking for suggestions," Kneer said. "We want readers to give us their insights."
