SCOTT CITY -- Voters in Scott City today will decide whether or not to enact a half-cent sales tax increase to fund repairs and improvements in city streets.
Voters from all wards are to cast ballots at City Hall, which will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
If approved, the tax increase will generate about $100,000 a year for five years. City officials say during that time, virtually all streets in the town will be repaired or sealed.
The increase would bring the city's overall tax rate to 6.225 percent, and would go into effect in October.
