The following school districts announced late Monday that classes are canceled today:

Woodland R-4; Meadow Heights R-2; Perry County District 32; Immaculate Conception School in Perryville; Altenburg schools; Concordia Lutheran School in Altenburg; and St. Vincent Junior and Senior High Schools in Perryville.

A spokesman for MidWest Weather at the Cape Girardeau Airport said that at least an inch of snow had fallen in the city by late Monday night. City street crews were at work on major arteries.

Cape Girardeau was on the northern edge of a band where 1 to 3 inches of snow was expected to fall. Three to 6 inches were forecast for counties immediately north of Cape Girardeau, according to the weather service.

The snow was accompanied by lightning.

A power outage in the southern part of Cape Girardeau left homes from Benton Street to Giboney Avenue without power late Monday night, said Cape Girardeau Police. Police said they were not sure of the cause of the outage.
