CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The first of three Southeast Missourian special sections entitled "People in Progress" will be published Sunday and the two following Sundays as the newspaper takes its annual look at progress in the area.

In a departure from past editions, which mostly examined progress and plans of county, city and state governments and their agencies, this year's stories focus on people.

This Sunday's sections examine where people live and how they learn. They will be followed on Feb. 17 with sections on what people do for a living and on Feb. 24 with a section on how they play and one on how they lived in the past.

All sections will be included in the regular Sunday newspaper.

The newspaper's staff of writers and photographers has been working on the special assignments for over a month.
