Brian J. Fredenburg
Air Force Airman 1st Class Brian J. Fredenburg has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and customs and received special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Fredenburg is the son of Jan Roth of Jackson. He is a 1991 graduate of Jackson High School.
Stephanie S. Feeney
Marine Pvt. Stephanie S. Feeney, daughter of Gordon C. and Martha S. Freeman of Jackson, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.
Feeney successfully completed 11 weeks of training designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally.
Feeney and fellow recruits began their training at 5 a.m., by running three miles and performing calisthenics. In addition to the physical conditioning program, Feeney spent numerous first aid, uniform regulations, combat water survival, marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat and assorted weapons training.
Feeney and fellow recruits worked as a team to solve a number of tactical problems during the program. They performed close order drill and operated as a Marine small infantry unit in the field.
Feeney and other recruits also received instruction on the Marine Corps' core values -- honor, courage and commitment, and what the words mean in guiding personal and professional conduct.
Feeney joins 41,000 men and women who will enter the Marine Corps this year from all over the country.
She is a 1991 graduate of Jackson High School.
