PORTAGEVILLE -- Three new varieties of soybeans have been introduced by the Missouri Agriculture Experiment Stations and all three offer promise of better yields to growers.

Sam Anand, soybean breeder at the University of Missouri Delta Center, developed and released the new varieties and will introduce them to grower Sept. 5, at the Delta Center Field Day.

The new varieties are:

Hartwig, resistant to all known races of soybean cyst nematode (SCN). In 1990 tests, it averaged 47 bushels an acre. The variety should be available to growers in two years.

Delsoy 4210 and Delsoy 4710, both resistant to two races of the SCN pest.
