ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A new video series is available online to help black Missourians learn about their family trees.

The Missouri State Archives has created the five-part video series. It's available on the Web site of Secretary of State Robin Carnahan.

A research consultant walks people through records they can use to learn more about their families, Web sites with helpful information and ways to combine information for a better understanding of the past.

The project is part of the African-American History Initiative, a program to improve awareness of contributions blacks have made to Missouri.
