NEW STORE: SPORTING GOODS A REAL HIT

Altenthal Sporting Goods recently opened at 1901 Independence.

"We're in the same building with Home Run Hitter," said Brad Altenthal. "We will be a baseball, softball and soccer specialty store, offering all the name brands in these three sports, including Rawlings, Louisville Slugger and Addidas.

Debbie Michels, who operates Home Run Hitter, manages the sporting goods operation, too.

"We'll offer sports equipment and supplies, warmups, T-shirts, sweats and other supplies," said Altenthal. "If we don't have it in stock, we can order it."

In addition to individuals, the operation provides equipment uniforms, balls, and supplies for teams.

Store hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.

Home Run Hitter was established last summer by Michels and her family. The indoor facility features batting cages for baseball and softball, with slow-pitch and fast-pitch being available for softball, and pitching facilities.
