JACKSON - A Kansas City educator and native of southeast Louisiana will become the new principal at the Immaculate Conception School in Jackson this fall.
Roxanne M. Pierce is a native of Port Sulpher, La., which is on the Mississippi River between New Orleans and the Gulf of Mexico.
She received her bachelor of music education from Loyola University at New Orleans in May 1980, and her master's degree in school administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in December 1992.
She is currently in the process of acquiring her Missouri State Elementary School Principal Certificate.
For the past 13 years, Pearce has taught vocal and instrumental music at the Paul Robeson School of Classical Studies, a magnet middle school in the Kansas City public schools system.
"I'm looking forward to my move to the Jackson area and the position of principal at Immaculate Conception School," said Pearce.
"I am very happy to get back into Catholic school education where religion and values can be taught as part of the curriculum. My faith and my church have always been important in my life, and I look forward to becoming involved with the Immaculate Conception Parish family."
Pearce will move to Jackson later this summer after schools are dismissed for the summer in Kansas City.
Rita Fisher, current principal of Immaculate Conception School, is completing her fourth year as principal. She has accepted a position as principal at St. Vincent de Paul School in Cape Girardeau.
Enrollment at Immaculate Conception School has increased by 100 students during the past four years.
