Papa John's will open a new location in Cape Girardeau in mid-April, a franchise official said.
RSTC, the franchise company opening the new location, has other Papa John's restaurants in Jackson, Cape Girardeau and Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Memphis and Carbondale, Illinois, said Eric Adams, director of operations with RSTC.
"The new location will help the company better serve the city," Adams said Wednesday.
"We take pride in having a good team and do our best to instill a nice culture, but one of the things that really held us back was the delivery area was just too large," Adams said.
The way sales have been growing, Adams said, the second location is necessary to meet demand.
The new location at 820 N. Sprigg St. will serve "just about anybody east of Perryville Road," Adams said.
The existing store at 841 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau will remain open.
Since the Towers housing complex is essentially across the street from the strip mall housing the new store, Adams said, he expects to deliver numerous orders to the Southeast Missouri State University campus.
The remodel is complete, Adams said. Equipment is installed, and now, the focus is on training the team.
RSTC started with one location three years ago, Adams said -- the Jackson location. "We built that one from the ground up," Adams said. "It all started in Jackson and moved from there."
Adams said company leadership is looking forward to opening another new store in an established area.
"We're stoked about it," Adams said.
