Starting today, "Off," a new entertainment and alternative (off the beaten path) publication being presented by the Southeast Missourian, can be found at a number of places throughout the area.

Off is being inserted in the Add Sheet, another special publication around the Cape Girardeau scene. The Add Sheet and Off are available at various convenience stores, restaurants, lounges, video stores and other locations.

Off is the brainchild of Paul Walker, a member of the Missourian's Targeted Publications.

Putting it together falls to two more members of Targeted -- Melissa Riddell and Eric Woods.

It's a good mix for the Add Sheet, say Riddle and Woods, who have combined to put together the idea and staff for the special publication. The Add Sheet includes a best-seller book and music lists, along with various articles.

Riddle calls herself the coordinator of creative genius for the eight-page, premiere edition. Riddell, who has been with the Missourian about six months, was promotion and special events coordinator for a Web design firm in Grand Rapids, Mich., before moving to Cape Girardeau.

Woods, a native Cape Girardean and graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute, is creative director of Off and will be do the layout of "Off."
