CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Chaffee has a new city administrator.
Lee Horton, 49, of Chaffee has been hired by the Chaffee City Council and moved into his city hall office Sept. 6.
"I am excited to work directly with the mayor and city council on projects coming up for the city," Horton said. "One of these is a water improvement project. I can't wait to see this completed since it is something Chaffee has needed for some
time."
Horton has been employed by the city and the Chaffee Police Department since 2002. His last position was as communications director, computer management director and dispatch supervisor.
He is also an adjunct instructor at the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center specializing in Microsoft Office.
Before working for the city, Horton was employed for 21 years by Columbia Sportswear Company in several supervisory positions, the last as information services liaison and plant administrator for the Chaffee manufacturing facility.
Horton moved to this area in 1989 when Columbia Sportswear transferred him to the Chaffee manufacturing facility from their headquarters in Portland, Ore.
"Lee's experience as a supervisor and project manager factored greatly in the decision to choose him for the administrator position." said Mayor Steve Loucks.
The city administrator is the chief administrative assistant to the mayor and has general, superintending control of the administration and management of government business, officers and employees of the city, subject to the direction and supervision of the mayor and city council.
