BENTON, Mo. -- Three juvenile runaways from the state of Nebraska were taken into custody Wednesday to await transportation home.

According to Friday news release from Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter, the juveniles were located by Lt. Steve Young at 4 a.m. Wednesday during a routine building security check at Express Fuel near Interstate 55.

The juveniles were found in a vehicle on the parking lot of the business, according to Walter.

Walter said it is standard procedure for deputies working late and early morning hours to conduct security checks on businesses.
