JONESBORO, Ill. -- A Nebraska homicide suspect is in custody at a Southern Illinois jail, according to a news release from the Union County State's Attorney's Office.
Anthony Garcia of Indiana is being held at the Jackson County Jail in Murphysboro, Ill., as a "fugitive of justice," the release said. Garcia is being investigated in connection with murder charges by the Omaha Police Department relating to a murder investigation from Douglas County, Neb., according to the news release. He was arrested Tuesday in Union County, Ill., and taken into custody by Illinois State Police near mile marker 36 on Interstate 57, the release said.
According to the news release, Garcia has hired private counsel and is scheduled to appear in court in front of Judge M. Boie at 11:30 a.m. today at the Union County Courthouse in Jonesboro.
