KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The NAACP plans to hold its 2010 convention in Kansas City.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People had considered pulling its convention from the city after the mayor made a controversial appointment to the city's park board.
But The Kansas City Star reported on its Web site that the Kansas City Convention and Visitors Association received word Monday that NAACP had decided to bring its convention to the city.
The NAACP said last year that it might go somewhere else after Frances Semler, a member of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, was appointed to the park board. She has since resigned from the board.
