March 9, 1955 Southeast Missourian.
Indicating the interest in uranium, even locally, since recent finds in Illinois, this group is examining a Geiger counter at the Montgomery Ward store in Cape Girardeau. From the left are K.D. Neal, manager of the appliance department; David W. Graves, story manager; Mrs. Floyd Davis and Bud Cummings. The model is a professional type used to locate either uranium or oil. Cheerleader champions were chosen for the elementary schools in Cape Girardeau this year and this group, from Trinity Lutheran School, won the title, the champs being picked by the basketball coaches of the elementary schools.
