Published Oct. 2, 1956. Miss Barbara Jo Scherer of Illmo has returned from Memphis, Tenn., where she competed in the talent show at the Mid South Centennial Fair. In competition with 23 others, she was victorious in Thursday's show doing her pantomime act of Elvis Presley and Bubble Gum. Some 1500 contestants appeared in the nine-day program with Barbara being the third youngest to compete. She won her right to compete through her winning of the local 4-H Club talent show. She is the older daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred F. Scherer. She is active in local 4-H Club work and is a sophomore at Illmo-Fornfelt High School where she is a member of the Student Council.
