Nov. 23, 1962 Southeast Missourian Grouped around two of the floats they made for National Book Week are fourth grade pupils at May Greene School. The floats were made to represent books the pupils had read recently. Feb. 28, 1963 Southeast Missourian Pupils in Mrs. Ellen Devore’s fifth grade class at Jefferson School are grouped in and around a covered wagon used in a play about the West. March 30, 1963 Southeast Missourian. An Oriental atmosphere pervades the fourth grade classroom at Lorimier School where the pupils in Mrs. Hudson’s social studies class are studying a unit on China and Japan. As part of the unit, the pupils are making costumes and other articles that are found in the two countries. Pupils learn about life in China and Japan by reading magazines and books by using audio-visual aids and by working in small groups that make everyday articles which are found in the Orient. During their study of the two countries, the pupils will construct everything from fans and lanterns to “coolie” hats. Nov. 10, 1962 Southeast Missourian Pupils at Junior High School serving as delegates to the mock United Nations are involved in various activities as they portray their real-life counterparts in the U.N.
