A.J. Foyt's Indy car, the Kenny Wallace "Red Dog" NASCAR, a $200,000 1940 three-windowed coupe and other NASCAR-related and speedsport products will be on display at Motorama '96, to be held this weekend at the Show Me Center.
The annual extravaganza, presented by KFVS-TV and sponsored by Auto Tire and Parts, will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $2 at the door. Children under 10 are free when accompanied by an adult.
About 8,000 people attended last year's event.
The show provides the automotive enthusiast an opportunity to see many facets of the industry.
Wallace, a NASCAR race car driver, will be at the center from 7 to 9 p.m. Other vehicles at the show will be the Dodge Viper concept car, the Pennzoil NASCAR, the Pennzoil Junior Dragster and Tom Baum's top fuel dragster.
On the Saturday schedule is the Dupont Tour '96 Hot Rod Car and truck Show, sponsored by Dupont and hosted by River City Rodders.
Sunday highlights will include an antique car show by the Capaha Antique Car Club, and pedal car races for the youngsters.
Also appearing at the two-day show will be the Hooter's girls and the Hooter's Power Racing Boat team.
Among other events include the Pit Crew Challenge, where local teams will compete in tire and sparkplug changing contests and creepers races. Also on the schedule are the Missouri Highway "Roll-out" exhibit. Local merchants and national vendors also will display new technologies and products.
