PALMYRA, Mo. -- A northeast Missouri woman and her son were killed Thursday when their car was hit by a tractor trailer and ran off U.S. 61 near Palmyra, authorities said.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Carol Nunemacher, 55, and her 16-year-old son, Wolfgang Nunemacher, who was driving the car, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Nunemacher's vehicle was westbound on Route F and failed to yield to the tractor trailer at the intersection of Route F and U.S. 61, the patrol said.
The tractor trailer, traveling southbound on U.S. 61, collided with the vehicle, which then traveled off the road.
