Most of the power outages across parts of Southeast Missouri Sunday afternoon and night were restored within two hours.

"Some homes were without power as long as six hours," said AmerenUE district manager Doug Groesbeck. "But 5,200 people had power within two hours," he said.

Thousands of residents were without electricity for short periods of time throughout the AmerenUE area from Cape Girardeau south to the Arkansas line. Limbs fell across power lines during Sunday's storms.

Most of the power outages were reported about 4:30 p.m., but about 400 homes in the northwest part of Cape Girardeau lost power about 11 p.m.
