The Mossbacks Fishing Club of Cape Girardeau captured first place in the recent Missouri Bass Federation Tournament held at Truman Lake.

It marked the first time a team had won three times in a row on the same non-home lake. The Mossbacks averaged 6.78 pound during the two-day tournament for its 10-man team.

The Mossbacks receive a free berth in next year's tournament at Stockton Lake.

Team member Terry Holmes landed a 6.02-pound bass for the tournament's largest fish caught on the second day. Also, Mark Nagle placed sixth in the individual competition with 13.3 pounds and Chuck Roberts took 11th with 11.43 pounds. Both fishermen advance with River City Hookers member Tim Flannery (3rd, 14.95 ounces) to next June's divisional tournament in Toledo Bend, Texas.

A total of 49 clubs and 348 fishermen competed in the tournament.

Mossback team members: Holmes, Nagle, Roberts, Terry Young, Ron Cotner, Bill Keesee, Tim Kluesner, Wayne Jones, Joe Reiminger, Tim Clippard and alternate Duane McKernan.
