MORLEY -- Sarah Lynn King, 18, of Morley was named third runner-up in the Miss American Co-Ed Pageant held July 3-4 in Kansas City.
She competed against 83 contestants ages 16 to 20.
King received a trophy and a $150 cash award.
She was named winner of the talent competition. She played a classical piano solo and won a $250 cash award.
King was 1991-92 state Beta Club vice president, varsity cheerleader co-captain, and drum majorette. She also participated in FHA, FBLA, student council and was on the newspaper staff.
King has been listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students for the past four years and was listed in the United States Achievement Academy Yearbook for the past two years.
Contestants in the pageant were judged on poise, personality, stage appearance, personal interview and achievements.
King is the daughter of Gene and Linda King of Morley.
