Six organizations meant to help with the mental health, physical rehabilitation and other needs of Southeast Missourians received grants from the Missouri Foundation for Health.
The grants, totaling more than $865,000, were made under the foundation's basic support and mental health and substance abuse programs. Grant recipients include:
* The Community Counseling Center, 402 S. Silver Springs Road in Cape Girardeau, will receive $200,000 for behavioral health and prevention services.
* Mississippi Valley Therapeutic Horsemanship of Jackson will receive $100,000 for equine therapy programs for the disabled.
* New Vision Counseling, 619 Broadview St. in Cape Girardeau, will receive $100,000 for mental health counseling for uninsured children and families.
* The Perry County Community Health Task Force in Perryville, Mo., will receive $65,382 for services to teenagers and young adults with alcohol or substance abuse issues.
* The Safe House for Women in Cape Girardeau will receive $100,00 for an emergency shelter as well as crisis intervention and counseling.
* The Gibson Recovery Center Inc., 1112 Linden St. in Cape Girardeau, will receive a $299,076 grant for Empowering Families, a program for parents receiving drug abuse treatment and their children aimed at reducing the children's risk of future drug use.
