THEBES, Ill. -- Two people were killed Monday on a crash on Highway 3 about a half-mile from Thebes, according to the Illinois State Police.

The crash, involving three vehicles, occurred around 6 p.m. and closed the highway for several hours.

According to a state police news release, Allen Ray Parker Jr., 18, of Cape Girardeau, driving a pickup truck, sideswiped Heather M. Miller, 60, of Wisconsin, while traveling south on Highway 3. That caused Parker to crash head on with Rose N. Johnson Wiggins, 54, of Cairo, Ill.

Parker and Wiggins were killed in the crash.

State police said Tuesday the investigation was ongoing.
