SIKESTON -- The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold an informational workshop March 30 in Sikeston. The workshop is for those who would like to learn how to apply for transportation enhancement funds. Transportation enhancement funds are funds available to local public agencies for projects such as constructing sidewalks, bike lanes, and converting abandoned railroad rights-of-way to trails. Communities can also use this program to revitalize local or regional economies by restoring historic transportation buildings, renovating streetscapes, opening transportation museums or doing beautification projects. The workshop is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon March 30 at the Southeast District office in Sikeston, 2675 N. Main St. in the Business, Education & Technology Park. For more information or to register, contact Jo Secoy at (573) 472-5885 or joann.secoy@modot.mo.gov.
