SCOTT CITY -- The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a hearing on plans for improving an interchange and replacing a bridge on Interstate 55.
The open-house hearing will be held on Oct. 7 from 4-7 p.m. at the Southeast Missouri Regional Port Authority conference room.
The open-house format will allow one-on-one conversations between interested persons and state highway department staff.
The project involves replacing the northbound bridge over the Diversion Channel. Also, the Route AB interchange would be improved by relocating the northbound and southbound ramps farther from the ends of the Route AB overpass and widening the overpass to three lanes.
The existing two-lane bridge over the Diversion Channel would be replaced with a seismic-designed, three-lane bridge, including an acceleration lane for the northbound ramp traffic, said MoDOT project manager DawnRae Vaught.
