A public hearing to discuss improvements on Highway 25 at South Elementary in Jackson will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the school library, 1701 S. Hope St.
The meeting will be conducted in an open house format, with no formal presentation. Visitors can talk directly with MoDOT personnel working on the project.
The project will involve widening the highway to provide turn lanes and improvements to the intersection like adding signals and lighting.
Traffic before and at the end of the school day creates a dangerous situation at the intersection, many parents, school staff and other public officials have said.
The project is expected to cost around $750,000, according to a MoDOT news release.
