Mo. Supreme Court to examine state House map

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Supreme Court will hear arguments next week on a fourth challenge to the state's political redistricting process.

Already this year, the court has struck down new state Senate districts and has twice considered lawsuits over new congressional districts.

On Monday, the court will hear arguments in a lawsuit challenging the redrawn map of Missouri's 163 state House districts. Boundaries of the districts were adjusted based on the 2010 census.

The lawsuit by a bipartisan group that includes two former lawmakers contends the new map violates requirements that districts have similar populations and be contiguous and compact. The plaintiffs also argue that a special judicial panel that drew the map violated Missouri's open meetings law.
