BONNE TERRE, Mo. (AP) -- The Missouri Department of Corrections says an inmate's death is being investigated.

Officials say 44-year-old Michael Williams was pronounced dead at the Eastern Reception Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre on Wednesday night. He had been serving a 10-year sentence for first-degree arson.

He was received into the Department of Corrections on Oct. 17, 2005, from St. Louis. The cause of death is under investigation and an autopsy will be done.

A phone call to seek additional information was not immediately returned.
