JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Gov. Jay Nixon's administration is seeking to spend $156 million in federal stimulus dollars in the next few months. Included in the spending package is $62 million for grants or loans to public water and sewer systems and nearly $31 million for job training and employment services for teens and adults. The House Budget Committee on Wednesday endorsed the plan as a supplement to Missouri's budget that runs through June 30. All of the spending is earmarked for specific purposes under the federal stimulus law.
The spending package includes $26.5 million to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy programs.
Among the smaller items is $500,000 in federal stimulus money earmarked to defray feed costs for Missouri fish farmers.
