BRUMLEY, Mo. (AP) -- A 32-year old central Missouri woman is jailed on murder charges in the death of a toddler at their home.

Miller County Sheriff Bill Abbott says Roshell Johnson of Brumley was taken into custody over the weekend in the fatal beating Tuesday of a 20-month old girl. Abbott said the child died Wednesday at University Medical Center in Columbia.

Johnson is charged second-degree murder, endangering the welfare of a child and abuse of a child.

Abbott says the child lived in Johnson's home, but he would not discuss the relationship between the two.
