Missouri State University considers $52M bond plan

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri State University is considering whether to issue bonds to pay for campus construction projects.

University officials are exploring whether to issue up to $52 million in bonds to pay for improvements at its academic and auxiliary facilities. Missouri State University President Michael Nietzel says there is a need for improved facilities and bond rates are favorable.

If Missouri State decides to issue the bonds, it has proposed construction on residence halls, the university recreation center and its West Plains multipurpose center. The school also is considering work on the Darr Agricultural Center, Looney Hall at its West Plains campus, and an addition to a physical therapy building.
