ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Missouri lags behind the rest of the nation when it comes to cycling and walking as a means of commuting. That's according to the Missouri Bicycle Federation which just released its first annual "Bicycling and Walking in Missouri -- A Report Card."...

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Missouri lags behind the rest of the nation when it comes to cycling and walking as a means of commuting.

That's according to the Missouri Bicycle Federation which just released its first annual "Bicycling and Walking in Missouri -- A Report Card."

It gave Missouri a "D," just in time for National Bike to Work Week.

David Henline commutes 42 miles round-trip to work every day. He'd give St. Louis a C+.

But he notes that he lives in an inner-ring suburb of St. Louis with lots of routes and sidewalks for pedestrians. He says he's educated about riding, and feels safe.
